On this Italy tour, get a taste of what the country has to offer and explore its most famous cities: Rome, Florence, and Venice. Have your camera ready as you discover the historical sights of Rome, including the Colosseum, the amphitheater used for deadly gladiatorial contests; St. Peter’s Basilica and the Sistine Chapel, world-famous for Michelangelo’s ceiling paintings. See ancient buildings and ruins, and you’ll be able to imagine what life was like thousands of years ago.
Visit San Gimignano, the medieval hilltop town with its impressive towers, and enjoy a glass of the local Chianti wine. In Florence, known to be one of the most beautiful cities in the world and often referred to as the art capital of Italy, enjoy an escorted walking tour that includes a visit to the Academy of Fine Arts to see Michelangelo’s famous David; in Venice, visit the must-see sights, such as St. Mark’s Square and Basilica, and Doges’ Palace. You’ll also have time to explore the maze of streets and discover hidden treasures in their back alleys. To top it all off, enjoy a farewell drink at the famous Caffė Florian on St. Mark’s Square and enjoy this prime people-watching spot.

Day 1: ARRIVE IN ROME, ITALY
Welcome to Rome! At 5 pm, meet your Tour Director and traveling companions, and leave the hotel for a welcome dinner at a local restaurant.
Day 2: ROME
Guided sightseeing of the “Eternal City” starts with a visit to the VATICAN MUSEUMS and SISTINE CHAPEL with Michelangelo’s ceiling paintings and The Last Judgment, followed by a visit to monumental ST. PETER’S SQUARE and BASILICA to admire Michelangelo’s Pietà. Then, enjoy views of other major sites as you drive to the Roman Forum to visit the ancient COLOSSEUM, where gladiators once fought. Afterward time at leisure; optional excursions are available.
Day 3: ROME–SAN GIMIGNANO–FLORENCE
A scenic drive along the Highway of the Sun offer views of towns like Orte and Orvieto, perched high atop a volcanic rock on your way to Tuscany and its vine-clad hills. Stop in San Gimignano, the medieval hilltop town with its tower houses, and enjoy Globus Local Favorite a glass of the local Chianti wine. Day 4: FLORENCE

Day 5: FLORENCE–VENICE ISLAND
A spectacular drive through the wooded Apennine Hills brings you to Venice, a powerful magnet for romantics and art lovers from around the globe. Enter in style by PRIVATE BOAT, then follow your Local Guide for a walking tour featuring ST. MARK’S SQUARE, a favorite location for many movies.
